Republicans want to keep their promise providing tax relief to Wisconsin residents.
Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu, who also represents Manitowoc County in Madison, released a statement following the introduction of Senate Bill 1, which would provide married-joint income tax filers with a $1,000 income tax rebate and provide all other filers with a $500 income tax rebate.
LeMahieu stated that families know how to spend their hard-earned dollars best, not the state and government.
He continued saying, “whether you need more room in your budget for groceries, or if Governor Evers’ 400-year veto sent your property tax bill through the roof, the State Senate intends to vote next week to return the surplus to the people who created it in the first place: you, the taxpayers.”
The Wisconsin Legislative Reference Bureau explains that the bill, if passed, would require payment made no later than September 15th, and if the taxpayer doesn’t receive the amount of payment they are eligible for, they will be able to file a claim with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
