A few of Senator Andre Jacque’s bills have taken steps towards becoming law, with one just a governor’s signature away from becoming law.
Assembly Bill 651, which would extend PTSD coverage to part-time and volunteer firefighters and medical first responders, passed in the Senate this week 32-1, and is now on its way to Governor Tony Evers’ desk.
Sen. Jacque noted, “This legislation is about fairness, and I am pleased to see this important proposal makes its way to the governor’s desk.”
Meanwhile, the Sexual Assault Survivor Bill of Rights passed the Senate on a voice vote, and is a vote in the Assembly away from also going to Governor Evers.
This measure, which was co-authored by Representative Dave Murphy, was drafted at the request of the national sexual assault victim rights group RISE.
Another measure headed to the governor’s desk is Assembly Bill 103, which Sen. Jacque co-authored alongside Representative Barbara Dittrich.
This legislation would require school boards to involve parents in any name change for a student.
