A Wisconsin Senator has reached across the political aisle to craft a trade law enforcement bill.
Sen.Tammy Baldwin joined forces with Alabama Republican Senator Katie Britt to introduce the Fighting Trade Cheats Act, which they say will empower American manufacturers to take action against bad actors who engage in customs fraud.
The bill specifically takes aim at the practice of dumping foreign-made goods into the United States by allowing private companies to sue foreign producers that harm American companies.
Sen. Baldwin said of the measure, βIn Wisconsin, our workers and manufacturers produce world-class products β and they deserve a fair shot to compete.
But, too often, foreign companies and countries, like China, rig the system, undermine our companies, and put Wisconsinites out of work.β
The measure is also co-sponsored by Senators John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, and North Carolina Republican Thom Tillis.
