A major food company is preparing to close a Milwaukee facility, impacting more than 200 workers.
Cargill announced that its protein processing plant in the Menomonee Valley will shut down by the end of May.
The company says production will begin winding down soon and is expected to fully stop by mid-April.
This marks the latest Cargill closure in Wisconsin over the past 12 years, following the shutdown of its Carmen Avenue facility in 2021.
According to the company’s website, Cargill now lists just one remaining location in the state — a grain elevator in La Crosse.
