A longtime softball coach at Plymouth High School has been given a major honor.
The district has announced that Coach Gale Grahn was inducted into the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Hall of Fame last Friday (February 6th).
In his 32 seasons as head coach of the Panthers softball team, he has been wildly successful, garnering a record of 417-241, eight regional championships, two Sectional Championships, and two State Tournament appearances, in 2006 and 2012.
The 2006 team was D2 State Runner-up.
He has also coached in the WFSCA Senior All-Star Game 3 times, earned conference Coach of the Year six times, coached 66 First-Team All-Conference players, and six All-State players.
However, to Grahn, winning isn’t everything, as he stated, “We always want to have a winning program, and most of the years we have, but we also want to provide players with lasting experiences.”
Despite retiring from teaching at Plymouth in 2018, he remains the varsity softball coach, with him and fellow coach Paul Krzyzaniak set to embark on their 33rd season together since creating the program in the 90s.
