Court proceedings have been delayed for one of the men charged in a Sheboygan Homicide.
Court records show that 19-year-old Onterio M. Girley was present for a status conference yesterday (February 9th) as he faces one count of Felony Murder-Armed Robbery.
At that hearing, it was revealed that Girley does not have a lawyer appointed to him in the case. Instead, he chose to waive his right to an attorney and expressed his desire to represent himself at his preliminary hearing scheduled for tomorrow (February 11th).
However, the court believed the 19-year-old would not be able to represent himself and decided to push back his court proceedings to allow an attorney to be appointed for him.
Girley and 18-year-old Lawrence S. Buford have both been charged in the shooting death of Joseph Torres on January 17th, which also severely injured an 18-year-old Sheboygan woman.
Buford faces charges of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, Armed Robbery with Use of Force, and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and will return to court tomorrow for his preliminary hearing.
Girley will now be back in court for his rescheduled status conference on February 23rd in Branch 2.
