A Manitowoc man will serve some jail time for child pornography possession.
48-year-old Steven J. Wester was back in Manitowoc County Court last week for a plea hearing, where he was found guilty due to a no-contest plea on two counts of possession and one count of possessing, distributing, or exhibiting an intimate representation.
Judge Mark Rohrer sentenced Wester to a year in the Manitowoc County Jail starting on February 11th and three years of probation.
Six other charges were dismissed but read into the record.
This was part of a Deferred Judgement Agreement to which the 48-year-old must follow several terms of his probation, including being put on the sex offender registry for 15 years, not having an internet-activated device, and maintaining full-time employment, among other conditions.
Wester was arrested after he was found to have “a significant amount of images and video files” containing child pornography on numerous electronic devices.
An investigation by Manitowoc Police began in December 2024 after getting a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
