Sheboygan’s John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC) is preparing to host a live dance performance this month.
The Chicago-based Red Clay Dance Company will be performing Rest.Rise.Move.Nourish.Heal on February 19th at the arts center from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Rest.Rise.Move.Nourish.Heal performance is a site-responsive dance ritual and embodied journey of reclamation, healing, and spiritual return, with the JMKAC stating, “Drawing from Black, African, and Indigenous traditions and ancestral technologies of nourishment, the work confronts the legacies of food apartheid and racial inequity while envisioning a decolonized practice of collective care, agency, and resilience.”
Following the 65-minute performance, the audience will be invited to join in a discussion with performers to engage more deeply with the artists themselves and the themes of their work.
Tickets to the dance performance will cost $20 for JMKAC members and $25 for non-members.
Those looking to purchase tickets or learn more about the Red Clay Dance Company can do so by visiting jmkac.org.
