A nature preserve in Two Rivers has nearly doubled in size after a generous donation.
The Van der Brohe Arboretum, located at 3800 Lincoln Avenue, has announced that Karen Steingraber has donated 45 acres of land to the preserve, allowing the arboretum to expand north.
With the addition of the land known as the “Steingraber Preserve”, the Van der Brohe Arboretum has grown to 110 acres.
Executive Director Lyssa Schmidt voiced her gratitude, saying, “We are forever grateful for the incredible gift of this environmental space and the benefits it offers wildlife and the community of Two Rivers. We continue to focus our efforts on providing a quality natural area for habitat and wildlife to enjoy and are excited to nearly double the space for visitors.”
She also noted that the expansion of the arboretum will allow further development of this “living tree museum” and create lasting environmental, educational, and community benefits that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
