A trial date has been set for a woman accused of starting a fire in Manitowoc in 2024.
During a status and scheduling conference yesterday (February 4th), 34-year-old Jessica McKeel’s trial was scheduled for May 12th and 13th as she faces charges of Arson of a Building Without the Owner’s Consent, Arson of a Property Other than a Building, Criminal Damage to Property, and Disorderly Conduct with a Domestic Abuse enhancer.
McKeel was arrested in July of 2024 after she allegedly intentionally started a pile of her ex-boyfriend’s clothes on fire.
The two had been arguing, but the man went to Milwaukee to pick her up in an attempt to reconcile.
That did not go well, as McKeel allegedly started the clothes on fire, and admitted to police that she knew her actions could have caused the house to burn down.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before any further damage could occur.
Judge Jerilyn Dietz will preside over the two-day trial, which will start with a pre-trial conference on May 4th.
