An Oshkosh man will be heading to prison after paying another person to sexually assault a child in a different country.
The U.S. Department of Justice for the Eastern District of Wisconsin has announced that 44-year-old Bradley D. Hounsell has been convicted of one count of coercing and enticing a minor to engage in unlawful sexual conduct.
The Justice Department explains that Hounsell communicated with an individual in the Philippines, stating he was seeking sexually explicit images and videos of children.
That individual then told the 44-year-old that they had access to a 13-year-old child.
Hounsell then asked the individual to produce and send him a video of them sexually abusing the child in exchange for payment.
The person complied and created such a video, performing the acts Hounsell requested.
A further review of his online communications showed that this was just one instance of many requests to acquire sexualized images and videos of children.
This case was investigated by the FBI with the assistance of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and was brought forward as part of Project Safe Childhood, aiming to curb a growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
