For the second year in a row, the Manitowoc Warming Shelter will be hosting a local rendition of a nationwide fundraising effort.
Manitowoc’s 2nd Annual Coldest Night of the Year walk will be held on Saturday, February 28th, starting at First Lutheran Church in downtown Manitowoc.
Opening remarks will be made at 4:00 p.m., followed by a 2k walk with rest stops serving hot drinks and food available at the finish line.
Coldest Night of the Year is a nationwide movement held in more than 300 cities and towns across North America.
On one night, tens of thousands of walkers will brave the cold together, raising millions for local charities that provide food, shelter, and support.
Pastor Matt Sauer, Executive Director of the Manitowoc Warming Shelter, said of the event, “As we walk, every step becomes an act of hope, helping ensure warmth, dignity, and care for those most at risk. We are thankful for a community that shows up, even when it’s cold out there.”
