The man shot and killed by Milwaukee police Tuesday night is being identified.
Family members said yesterday it was Josh Wippert who was fatally shot on the city’s northwest side during an attempted traffic stop.
Police say the 38-year-old briefly stopped and then drove away from officers, leading to a vehicle pursuit and later a foot chase.
Police explained Wippert had a gun and gave him multiple commands to drop the weapon, and when he didn’t, two officers opened fire.
Wippert was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
