
Two of the top three girls’ basketball teams in the Big East North Division meet tonight in Howards Grove as the Tigers entertain the Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers.
The Lancers are in second place at 7-2, while the Tigers are 5-3 in league play.
Both teams are 16-4 on the year and hope that a victory will keep them alive for the division title.
St. Mary Catholic has not lost in 9 conference games, having swept season series from both the Lancers and Tigers.
The stat lines are relatively even except for the free-throw line, where the Tigers have a decided edge, shooting nearly 67 percent from the line compared to a little better than 48 percent for the Lancers.
Manitowoc Lutheran won the first meeting at Lancer Circle on December 15th 59-52.
The scheduled top-off at the Grove is scheduled for 7:15 p.m., and the game will be heard on 980 WCUB and CubRadio.com.
Other girls’ contests have Roncalli hosting Brillion, which will be aired on “WOMT 100” and WOMTRadio.com at 7:00 p.m., Two Rivers hosting Chilton, Mishicot home for St. Mary Catholic, and Reedsville heading north to Southern Door
Elsewhere, Sheboygan Christian heads to Sheboygan Lutheran, Sheboygan Falls hosts New Holstein, Kewaunee travels to Seymour, Oostburg entertains Ozaukee, Random Lake travels to Cedar Grove/ Belgium, De Pere hosts Bay Por,t and Gibraltar is home for the Crivitz Wolverines.
Meanwhile, the top-ranked Division Five boys’ basketball team in the state, the Reedsville Panthers, play host to the Two Rivers Raiders.
The Panthers are an impressive 15-1, having come off a 27-point victory over Hilbert on Tuesday night. Two Rivers looks to bounce back following a lopsided loss to rival Roncalli on Tuesday night.
Elsewhere, Valders hosts Kohler, Hilbert heads to Ozaukee, New Holstein travels to St. Lawrence Seminary, and the Chilton Tigers entertain the Blazers of Green Bay NEW Lutheran.
Also, in local wrestling, Manitowoc Lincoln will host a girls Varsity Invite that includes Valders, Ashwaubenon, Green Bay Preble, and West De Pere.
The Manitowoc Lincoln boys are home for Green Bay Preble.
Meanwhile, in girls’ hockey, the Valders/ Fond Du Lac co-op faces off with Bay Area at the Cornerstone Ice Arena in Ashwaubenon.
