A Dane County dog breeder is being taken to court by two animal rights groups.
The Nonhuman Rights Project and Animal Activist Legal Defense Project have filed a lawsuit in Dane County Court against Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds.
The lawsuit accuses Ridglan Farms of violating the state’s animal cruelty act by mistreating the beagles in their possession.
The groups have called on the company to release the roughly 2,000 beagles and puppies.
Ridglan Farms faced similar legal scrutiny in January of last year.
