A Board of Appeals member in Kiel is asking the city again to help get the speed limit lowered at an intersection just north of the city.
Jack Lechler explained to the council on Tuesday that he had asked the State of Wisconsin three to four years ago to lower the speed limit on Highway 67 south, toward Kiel, for drivers entering the road from County Highway XX.
Lechler said that other cities like Valders and New Holstein have slower speeds in their areas, which are also state highways
He told the Council. “You’ll see logical signs saying 25 or 35, while ours is 45.”
Lechler says the state told him that the speed limit was reasonable and decided not to lower it.
He then asked the City of Kiel and the Town of Schleswig for letters requesting a lower speed limit.
But again, the state said lowering the speed limit wasn’t necessary.
