The City of Sheboygan is looking to celebrate Valentine’s Day with an international spin.
The Mayor’s International Committee and the Mead Public Library have partnered for the first-ever Sister City Valentine Making and Mailing Project.
As part of the project, from February 1st through the 14th, children from Sheboygan are invited to create valentines and drop them off at the mailbox located on the third-floor Children’s Library at Mead.
Once collected, all valentines will be sent to Tsubame, Japan, and Esslingen, Germany, the City of Sheboygan’s two international sister cities.
The guidelines for the valentines include not being larger than 8.5 inches by 11 inches, accepted materials include crayons, markers, pencils, paints, and stickers, and valentines containing glitter or in sealed envelopes will not be accepted.
The library has also said that schools from around the area are invited to join in on the fun, which is considered a creative way to connect with other kids from around the world.
