A Green Bay teacher convicted in a student sexual assault case is trying to get his conviction overturned.
FOX11 reports that David Villareal, who was found guilty of three Counts of 1st Degree Child Sexual Assault and Repeated Sexual Assault of the Same Child by a jury, has filed an appeal.
The victims were said to be 7 and 8-year-old girls at Baird Elementary School in 2015 and 2016, where he was teaching at the time.
Villareal’s legal team argues that there was insufficient justification for his conviction, and claims that he should have had two separate trials, one for each alleged victim.
The state has until February 26th to respond to the appeal.
