Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman is drawing criticism after attending a training program in Israel.
According to MPD, Norman took part in a homeland security program there in December.
During a recent Fire and Police Commission meeting, several residents questioned his participation, citing the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
In a statement released afterward, Norman said he believed the training was a valuable opportunity to learn ways to prevent and respond to terrorism.
The program is restricted to top local law enforcement officials, including police chiefs, sheriffs, and commissioners.
Norman is one of thousands of American police officers and federal agents who have received training from Israel.
