The City of Manitowoc is updating its council chambers.
The Common Council approved a $178,500 bid from Fearing’s Audio Video for audio/video upgrades for video presentation equipment.
Upgrades would be made to capture, broadcast, and record meetings.
Mayor Justin Nickels explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that the upgrades haven’t been done in a long time and will benefit residents.
“To provide ultimate transparency,” he explained. “And record every single committee meeting and have the citizens’ experience of local government and understanding much easier.”
The video upgrades at Manitowoc council chambers would include the camera broadcasting the meetings being moved through the wall and mounted in the hearing rooms, while also moving a 75” TV on the west wall to the east side of the room.
Fearing’s would also be tasked with getting a microphone solution to capture all audio at the meeting.
Mayor Nickels says the project is expected to start in February and will take a few months to fully complete.
