A Manitowoc man is getting some jail time after causing the Manitowoc SWAT Team to be called to an apartment back in 2024.
40-year-old Demetrius Norton was back in Manitowoc County court yesterday (January 26th) and was placed on probation for thirty months with several conditions.
He must also serve 100 days in the Manitowoc County Jail starting on March 24th. Norton was arrested in March 2024 after Manitowoc Police were called to the Manitowoc Place Apartments after the caller said someone was going to kill them and that children were inside.
The 40-year-old yelled profanities and threatened to shoot anyone who came to get him.
He would eventually retreat to his apartment, and law enforcement created a perimeter around the apartment complex before the Manitowoc County SWAT Team arrived to assist.
The SWAT Team would use different tactics to get the suspect out, and eventually had to release K9 Riley to get Norton to cooperate.
He was convicted of battery and threat to a judge, prosecutor, or law enforcement in May last year, but hadn’t been sentenced until this month.
