The city attorney of Neenah has been found innocent of sexual assault charges.
WBAY reports that a jury took three hours to find David Rashid not guilty of two counts of 3rd-degree sexual assault and 4th-degree sexual assault after a trial last week.
A criminal complaint says an anonymous email was sent to Neenah police accusing Rashid of abusing his ex-wife.
Prosecutors said the 62-year-old was not given consent in a handful of instances while he and his ex-wife were married, while Rashid’s defense said the only evidence in the case was his ex-wife’s testimony and the email.
An investigation revealed that the email was sent by former City of Neenah attorney Adam Westbrook, who, in 2024, was found guilty in federal court of distributing child sexual abuse material in a different case.
Rashid was placed on administrative leave in May 2024 after the charges came out.
But he was reinstated after the city said the charges weren’t work-related.
