A woman from Fond du Lac is in custody following the death of a child last year.
The Fond du Lac Police Department responded to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital just after 1:00 a.m. on December 5th on a report of a deceased 12-year-old child.
From the moment of the incident, Fond du Lac Police opened an exhaustive and comprehensive investigation surrounding the circumstances of the child’s death.
This included the diligent gathering of evidence, interviewing witnesses, and collaboration with partner agencies.
As a result of that investigative work on Friday (January 23rd), authorities arrested a 51-year-old Fond du Lac woman who has since been charged with one count of Child Neglect Causing Death.
In response to the arrest, Fond du Lac Lieutenant Nicholas Hahn said, “This was an incredibly complex and heartbreaking case. Our team worked tirelessly to uncover the truth and ensure accountability. We remain committed to seeking justice for the victim and providing a measure of closure for the community.”
At this time, no additional information regarding the death of the 12-year-old is planned for release.
