There will soon be a new way to listen to WOMT radio.
On today’s Jim and Rick Show, Vice President of Operations Terry Stevenson announced that WOMT will be simulcast on 98.9 FM beginning on February 1st.
WOMT has been on the FM dial at 107.9 FM, but Stevenson explains that the FM translator has a “Very limited reach.
By now allowing us to simulcast WOMT 1240 AM at 98.9 FM, this allows us to increase our demographic reach as well as our geographical reach.”
98.9 FM will reach all of Manitowoc County and now all of Sheboygan County, adding to WOMT’s sustainability.
Stevenson says Seehafer Broadcasting has been hard at work over the last two years to continue growing the brand and attracting new listeners.
But what does that mean for WEMP? Steveson says the station will be retired.
“WEMP’s call letters and program will retire on January 31st, with the WOMT FM kicking off on February 1st.”
With the new FM dial for WOMT, Stevenson adds:
“It’s great for our advertising partners,” he noted. “But also for the community members because now we are going to be able to have so much more information and content you can only get with WOMT.”
There were other big announcements on the Jim and Rick Show as well, including that Lakeshore’s Classic Rock Station, Q102, will become the new home for the Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball, as well as the Green Bay Packers Football. WOMT will continue to broadcast local sports, Milwaukee Brewers baseball, and Milwaukee Bucks basketball.
Two other big events for WOMT’s 100th anniversary will also happen this year. The 2026 Metro Jam in Manitowoc, brought to you by WOMT 100, will open with the Jim and Rick Show Live from Metro Jam on Friday, June 19th at 5:30 p.m.
The other announcement was the return of Deuces Wild Dueling Pianos, which will take place on Thursday, August 20th, at PetSkull Brewing Company and is presented by Mike Howe Builders.
Stevenson thanked everyone on his team for making this new way of listening to WOMT possible.
*Correction from On-Air: Sonny Landreth will be the headliner for Metro Jam on Saturday, June 20th, not on Friday, June 19th, as was said on the air.
