A local conservation group has received state funding to protect the area’s soil health and water quality.
Governor Tony Evers and the DATCP have announced that 49 farmer-led groups have received funding through the Producer-Led Watershed Protection Grant program.
Among the recipients is the Sheboygan River Progressive Farmers group, which has received a grant worth $26,800.
These grants were awarded in an effort to encourage innovation and farmer participation to protect and preserve the state’s natural resources.
Regarding the importance of this state funding, Gov. Evers said, “Wisconsin’s farmers and producers know firsthand the value of clean water and soil and are critical partners in our state’s conservation efforts, and I’m glad to have supported this program to help ensure our farmers, kids, and communities have access to safe, clean drinking water.”
While the DATCP Secretary said, “It’s great to see the success of this program continue and grow.”
This marks the 11th round of funding through the Producer-Led Watershed Protection Grant program, with $1 million being awarded this time around.
