A Sheboygan man charged with eight counts of possessing child pornography has entered his plea.
Court records show that 19-year-old Kashaun Oliver entered a plea of not guilty to all eight charges during his latest appearance in Manitowoc County court on Wednesday (January 21st).
Oliver’s attorney also addressed the issue of law enforcement holding electronic devices from the suspect’s family. Assistant District Attorney Angelina Scarpelli told Judge Robert Dewane that the devices are still being searched through.
However, Dewane decided that Oliver’s father’s phone, his mom’s, and his sister’s iPads would be returned after forensic analysis is completed.
But four other phones used in the investigation will not be returned. Manitowoc Police arrested the 19-year-old after getting a tip from the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation indicating that an IP address located in Manitowoc was associated with the viewing of illicit videos.
A criminal complaint says Oliver admitted that he watched the videos and attempted to send them to another account. He’ll return to court on March 13th for further proceedings.
