Wisconsin is in the grip of dangerously cold weather today, prompting the National Weather Service to issue an Extreme Cold Warning statewide.
In Madison, temperatures are not expected to climb above zero, with wind chills plunging to as low as 40 degrees below zero.
Meteorologists warn that the severe cold could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as ten minutes.
Officials are urging residents to limit time outdoors and dress in multiple layers if travel is necessary.
