A Brillion man accused of killing a family member has been identified and officially charged.
NBC26 reports 40-year-old Kenneth Nelson appeared before a Calumet County judge yesterday (January 22nd) and was given a $2 million cash bond.
Judge Carey Reed also ordered a competency hearing, as Nelson has a history of mental illness, including schizophrenia.
He’ll return to court on February 24th for the hearing.
The 40-year-old is now charged with one count of 1st-degree intentional homicide after a 66-year-old man was found dead at a residence in the Town of Brillion on Tuesday (January 21st).
Calumet County Sheriff’s Deputies say the victim died from blunt force trauma, but Nelson claimed in court that it was self-defense.
The case is still under investigation.
