Seehafer Broadcasting has a special announcement.
Vice President of Operations Terry Stevenson says he is very excited to share this news with listeners and encourages them to tune in to WOMT tomorrow for the details.
He announced, “So we just want to take a moment and really invite and encourage listeners to tune into the Jim and Rick Show Friday (January 23rd), beginning at 8:30 a.m. and hear some really exciting updates as it relates to WOMT 100.”
This is part of the celebration of WOMT’s 100 years of broadcasting.
The station started on November 8th, 1926, by Founder Francis Kadow, who signed on-air for the very first time from the second floor of the Mikadow Theater.
Since then, WOMT has remained a trusted voice for news, sports, community information, and entertainment.
The station was then bought by Wisconsin Fuel and Lighting, but would eventually be purchased by Don Seehafer and has been with Seehafer Broadcasting since then.
Stevenson says it’s an honor and a privilege to continue WOMT’s legacy and to look at what’s happening during this special anniversary.
“I’ve encouraged my staff, my team, to take a moment to pause, to reflect, and to just remember that in this moment in time, in this moment in history, we are here,” he explained. “And we get to be a part of celebrating 100 years of live, local, radio for our community.”
Stevenson says the company is pulling out all the stops to celebrate WOMT100 year-round.
Seehafer Broadcasting is giving away over $50,000 in cash and prizes starting this month.
One contest, WOMT History Trivia, presented by Manitowoc Tool and Manufacturing, will quiz listeners about the station’s past and give them a chance to win $100.
Winners will then be entered into the grand prize drawing of $12,400, which will be picked on December 18th.
The WOMT 100 Secret Cash giveaway, presented by Weichert Realtors Cornerstone, has people find $100 at a secret location somewhere in Manitowoc County.
The Morning Brew Promotion with Parker Hannifin has Stevenson giving listeners a chance to win $100 if they meet him at a coffee shop and give a special word.
The Red Wing Shoe Store in Sheboygan is presenting Win With Red Wing and gives listeners a chance to visit the store to enter to win a prize package valued at $1,000 or more.
