Two organizations in the City of Sheboygan have partnered to continue helping community members experiencing homelessness.
The boards of the Sheboygan County Warming Center and Hope Church have joined forces to open The Middle Ground, a safe, welcoming place for guests to warm up in the afternoon.
The Middle Ground, which opened its doors on Tuesday (January 20th), will be open Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
These hours line up with the Community Cafe closing for the day and before the Warming Center opens in the evening.
The decision to open this new space comes after individuals in the community expressed the need for a middle ground and shelter during the afternoon hours in Sheboygan.
The Middle Ground is considered a “low-barrier community space where everyone is expected to engage with respect, care, and safety.”
It will be headquartered at Hope Church, located at 612 Ontario Avenue, and staffed by the Warming Center.
On the opening of The Middle Ground, the Sheboygan County Warming Staff said, “This space is possible because of collaboration, compassion, and community. A huge thank you to everyone who supports this shared mission — your partnership, generosity, and care make this space possible. Together, we’re creating warmth, connection, and belonging — one afternoon at a time.”
