
The Sheboygan County SaberCats are in a league of their own.
The semi-pro football team beat the Illinois Grizzlies 56-52 to secure the Summer League National Championship in Daytona Beach on Saturday (January 17th).
With just 3:34 remaining in the 4th quarter, the SaberCats found themselves trailing 52-50 but forced a turnover on downs after getting a stop on a 4th and 2 try from the Grizzlies.
After taking over on offense, the SaberCats marched down the field before Larry Rivers scored the go-ahead touchdown with under 24 seconds remaining.
In the end, the SaberCats would hold on to become national champions.
The SaberCats got the invitation to play in the national title game after winning the Tier 1 Midwest Championship 37-24.
