The City of Manitowoc is looking to restore a creek being affected by erosion.
The Common Council approved a resolution last night (January 19th) for the Silver Creek Stream Restoration Project that allows the city to advertise for bids for the proposed restoration at Silver Creek Park.
Grant money for the project has been acquired and will be used to protect against streambank erosion at Silver Creek Park.
However, specific details about the project were not available in city documents.
The council also approved getting another grant from the Wisconsin DNR’s Wetland General Permit Surcharge Restoration grant program.
Manitowoc is applying for $40,000 from the DNR.
The Parks and Recreation Department of Manitowoc previously worked on removing invasive plants at the park in 2023, specifically around different holes of the park’s disc golf course.
