A Sheboygan man facing murder charges is set to return to court.
Court documents show that 36-year-old Luiz Cruz Burgos will be back inside a Sheboygan County courtroom today (January 20th) as he faces one count of First-Degree Reckless Homicide for the killing of Giovanni Michael Robinson on September 24th.
Robinson, a 32-year-old Canadian man, was shot and killed in the 600 block of Monroe Street while on a golf trip with friends and family.
A criminal complaint explains that Cruz Burgos, who worked as a DoorDash driver, was completing a delivery in Sheboygan Falls when he was approached by Robinson and three other individuals who were attempting to find a ride back to their hotel in the Village of Kohler.
The two sides could not agree on the terms of payment for a ride back, and the parties went their separate ways.
It is alleged that Cruz Burgos later made a U-turn and fired a single shot at the group, striking Robinson in the chest.
However, the 36-year-old has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to the lone charge he faces back in November.
At this time, Cruz Burgos remains in custody at the Sheboygan County Jail on a $2 million cash bail.
