A Two Rivers man facing child abuse charges is due back in Manitowoc County Court.
24-year-old David Flores is set to make his initial appearance tomorrow (January 20th) as he faces one count of Physical Abuse of a Child, Intending Great Bodily Harm, in connection to an incident that took place late last year.
A Detective with the Manitowoc Police Department was contacted in December by an employee with Manitowoc County Child Protective Services (CPS) regarding a potential child abuse case.
According to CPS, the incident occurred on November 7th, involving Flores punching, kicking, and hitting a child with a belt.
A police report states that the 24-year-old had entered the victim’s room, asking them and another child to be quiet.
In response, the victim, identified as victim 1, called Flores ‘bro’, to which he responded by challenging the victim to call him bro again.
The victim did so and was physically assaulted before being thrown into a door frame.
Flores then contacted the child’s other guardian via text message, admitting to the physical assault.
Before the arrest was made, both the other guardian and CPS showed the detective images showing the injuries sustained by the child at the hands of Flores.
At this time, Flores remains in custody at the Manitowoc County Jail on a $2,000 cash bail.
