Students at Prairie Phoenix Academy staged a walkout on Friday to protest the return of their school’s principal.
The group left class and marched in winter conditions to the Sun Prairie School District administrative offices, carrying signs to voice their concerns.
The demonstration follows an investigation into the district’s handling of a case involving former West High School Dean of Students Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier.
This came after Gilkey-Meisegeierwas arrested on child abuse allegations.
The investigation found that Prairie Phoenix Principal Nehemirah Barrett was informed of an inappropriate relationship between a student and the administrator, but did not investigate further or report the information.
