Manitowoc Public Utilities is telling customers what a utility scam could look like.
MPU explains that scammers regularly try to imitate companies and prey on the fear of power being disconnected to get what they want.
They could also appear to be calling from the utility’s customer service phone number.
MPU says they will never contact you using social media about your account or ask for a gift card as payment for utility services.
If you feel like you are being scammed, hang up and call MPU’s customer service at 920-683-4600.
