The Manitowoc Public School Board is seeking a Request for Proposal (RFP) for repairs to its schools.
The board approved looking for bids last night while changing the language to find a project manager rather than a general contractor.
Superintendent Lee Thennes says language for the RFP could be created within the next few days and would first go to the district’s Finance and Facilities Committee.
After they decide which proposals the school board should consider, they will then be sent to the full board.
Board Member Chris Able was concerned that the RFP was not ready before tonight’s board meeting.
Meeting agenda documents show that the district is planning to spend about $16 million on improvements for the remaining schools it will keep open after announcing the closure of Madison and Jackson Elementary Schools as part of its consolidation plan.
Schools across the district will receive light fixtures, plumbing improvements, security upgrades, and tuckpointing, among other things.
