Gregory A. Martell, age 74, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026 at his home.
He was born April 23, 1951, son of the late Lawrence and Janet (Szymczyk) Martell. Greg attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1970. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served as an air traffic controller in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He married Mary Lynn Siewert in Manitowoc in June of 1972. She preceded him in death in October of 1986. On May 10, 1996 he married Marilyn (Stemper) Demler at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Greg served the Manitowoc community as a police officer for most of his career. Above all, he loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.
Greg is survived by his wife: Marilyn Martell; two children: Megan (Travis) Schaefer and Mathew (Jennifer) Martell; grandchildren: Evan, Brielle, Caleb, and Luka; as well as siblings, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Mary Lynn; as well as siblings and other relatives.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N. Water Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Mike Dolezal. Military honors will be accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731 of Manitowoc. Following the service, a luncheon will be held for family and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, located on the southside property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Greg will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Greg’s name to the Salvation Army of Manitowoc County or your favorite charity.
