A new pet-focused retail space in Manitowoc is getting ready to welcome guests, both human and non-human.
Pet Supplies Plus purchased the former Advanced Auto Parts store at 1019 Washington Street following its closing nearly one year ago and will be hosting a family-friendly grand opening this weekend.
All are welcome to visit the newly renovated building and see what Pet Supplies Plus has to offer, starting on Saturday (January 17th).
The Manitowoc location will be the fifth for area entrepreneur Dave Heather.
He first discovered the brand, which has over 720 locations in 36 states, shortly after selling several of his car dealerships in 2014.
Since then, he has opened locations in West Bend, Neenah, Green Bay, Sheboygan, and now Manitowoc.
He is also eyeing a February opening for a sixth location in Fond du Lac.
As a community partner, Heather has pledged to work alongside local animal shelters, rescue organizations, and non-profits to host year-round adoption events, fundraisers, pet food and product drives.
He said of the decision to add a location in the Clipper City, “I’ve always loved the Manitowoc community and saw a real need for a store local pet lovers could trust.”
Heather added, “At Pet Supplies Plus, we treat every pet like they’re our own. Pet parents can rest easy knowing we genuinely love animals and will care for them with the same love and attention we’d give our own.”
During the grand opening, Pet Supplies Plus will provide complimentary nail trims for dogs and free pet washes all weekend.
Saturday will also be highlighted by mystery scratch cards being given to neighbors throughout the day.
Then, on Sunday, the first 100 people through the door will receive one free small bag of dog or cat food.
