A Manitowoc man has been arrested after fleeing from a fender bender at a local gas station.
Manitowoc Police were dispatched to the Citgo station at 1409 North 8th Street at 3:15 Tuesday afternoon on a report of a hit and run.
A review of surveillance camera footage revealed the suspect was backing up at a pump when they hit a vehicle parked behind them.
The victim told police the suspect apologized, but fled once he learned that the victim had called the police.
His vehicle was found driving south on South 10th Street thanks to FLOCK cameras, and an officer located the vehicle pulling into a residence on South 13th Street.
The 36-year-old man claimed he was going home to get his insurance information, but a female passenger pulled the card from a bag inside the vehicle, rendering the suspect’s statement inaccurate.
He was cited for Hit and Run, Operating Without a Valid License, his second offense within three years, and was arrested for Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, as he has an open retail theft case from September of last year.
