Ronald (Ron) Jones of Valders entered heaven on January 10, 2026. The first thing he did was ask the Lord, “How are you doing?” … “How is this place operated?” … “Is there anything I can do to help?” … “Do you need a greeter?” … “Are there more new ones coming?” … “I know I ask a lot of questions but I’m Harvey Jones’ grandson and he asked questions too. Well, I shouldn’t blame Grandpa, but….”
Ron was born to Raymond and Rynjal (Reseland) Jones August 29, 1942 at home near Soldiers Grove, Crawford County, WI, the oldest of three sons. He grew up on the family farm, became active in 4-H and FFA, holding offices in both. There began his love of the gentle Guernsey cattle; a love that remained throughout his life. He also had an appreciation for good cattle no matter the breed and held memberships in both Guernsey and Holstein associations. He was very involved with showing and judging cattle; helping his children, grandchildren and others understand how to identify the best animals. 4-H also inspired his interest and later love of softball and baseball.
On June 6, 1964 he married his 4-H sweetheart Joceil (Jo) Puckett. They welcomed into their life five children, Betsy (Dominick) Bierdek, Luxemburg, WI, Gary (Denisa) Jones, Copenhagen, Denmark, Janice (Mark) Endsley, Texas City, TX, Matthew (Monica) Jones, Valders, WI, and Robert (Abigail) Jones, Brillion, WI. He was grandpa to 15 grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Mitchell, Angela, Jessica, Sebastian, Hayley, Dannica, Filip, Iain, Tristen, Kathryne, Madalyne, Malayna, and Mason and two great-grandchildren Eli and Sophiee. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Alice Jones, Seneca, WI and Jane Jones, Gays Mills, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry and Elling.
He hoped some of his children would follow in his footsteps to farm, but it was more important that they be good, hardworking and honest people and follow their own hearts. He loved his family dearly and every gathering required a Euchre game or five and a baseball game on the TV. He had many setbacks in life that he faced with good humor, faith in God, and trust there was always a church family to share life with. He so enjoyed work for the church. Ron was a member of the Lutheran church in every community that he lived in. The last, close to thirty years, was Faith Lutheran, Valders, WI. The Lions club was a big part of his life with its many service projects, selling raffle tickets at the village picnic, working at the admission booth at the Manitowoc County Fair and he especially enjoyed giving dictionaries to the third graders at local schools.
Please put him to work Lord … he so wants to help.
