Bail has been given to a Manitowoc man facing his 7th OWI charge.
At his initial appearance on Friday (January 9th), 52-year-old Martin C. Schroeder was given a $1,000 cash bail by Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa as he faces one count of Operating While Intoxicated.
Schroeder was arrested early Friday morning after an employee at the Kwik Trip on South 42nd Street called police, stating a man who was noticeably drunk had left the gas station in a vehicle.
The 52-year-old was later located by an officer heading east on Dewey Street.
A traffic stop was initiated; however, Schroeder did not stop until pulling into the lot of the Amoco gas station on Dewey.
He was then questioned and gave no comment when asked if he had been drinking but would eventually admit that he had.
Schroeder was then placed in custody and transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary blood draw.
As part of his bail, he was also ordered to maintain absolute sobriety, and he is not allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
Schroeder returns to court tomorrow afternoon (January 12th) for a preliminary hearing in Branch 4.
