Two Rivers HOSA students are putting together a blood drive for the community.
HOSA-Future Health Professionals empowers students to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience, aiming to enhance healthcare delivery by developing leadership, technical skills, and promoting career opportunities in the health industry, all guided by core values like learning, leadership, service, and innovation.
The blood drive will be taking place at Two Rivers High School on February 13th from 9:00 to 2:00 p.m.
“Hosting a blood drive coincides with HOSA Future Health Professionals’ core values of giving back to the community,” said Jenny Tuesburg, HOSA Advisor. “With a simple blood donation, we have the ability to help save the life of someone who could be a coworker, loved one, or neighbor.”
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors.
With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.
She added, “We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.”
According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative, and B negative.
