The case for two people charged in connection with the death of Elijah Vue will be brought up together again in a couple of months.
Although they weren’t present, attorneys for 40-year-old Jesse Vang and 32-year-old Katrina Baur were in Manitowoc County Court yesterday.
Vang’s attorney, Jeffery Jansen, told Judge Anthony Lambrecht that he will be filing motions soon, but still needs some more time.
Baur’s attorney, Amber Gratz, says she is still looking through evidence in the case.
Both cases will be brought back on May 18th for a motion hearing.
Vang faces charges including physical abuse of a child, repeated acts causing death, hiding a corpse, resisting or obstructing an officer, and chronic neglect of a child.
Baur is charged with chronic neglect of a child, the consequence is death, neglecting a child, and two counts of resisting or obstructing an officer.
Elijah was first reported missing in February 2024 before his remains were found in the Town of Two Rivers in September that year.
A criminal complaint alleges that Baur would leave the toddler with Vang so he could teach him “how to be a man.”
That would include punishments for standing for hours praying and the threat of cold showers.
The complaint also says that Vang tried to give a suitcase that contained Elijah’s DNA to St. Vincent de Paul in Two Rivers the day before Elijah was reported missing.
