
One person has died after a prison fight in Oshkosh.
The Oshkosh Police Department, which is leading the investigation into the incident, says that the altercation took place on Wednesday (January 7th) at approximately 3:00 p.m. and involved three inmates inside the Oshkosh Correctional Institution.
The department continues to say that a 43-year-old inmate who assaulted another inmate was secured by prison staff, after which he experienced a medical emergency.
The 43-year-old was later transported to a local hospital for treatment by the Oshkosh Fire Department.
Then, just after 9:00 a.m. yesterday (January 8th), Oshkosh Police investigators were informed that the inmate had been pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation into the fatal altercation remains active and ongoing, being spearheaded by the Oshkosh Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
