Senator Andre Jacque’s PTSD expansion bill has taken its first major step towards becoming law.
Assembly Bill 651/Senate Bill 676 is a part of a comprehensive workers’ compensation package that passed unanimously in the Assembly Committee on Workforce Development, Labor, and Integrated Employment.
The measure is an expansion on a law Sen. Jacque authored in 2021, which provides PTSD workers’ compensation coverage for law enforcement and full-time firefighters.
This new bill looks to expand that coverage to volunteer and part-time firefighters and other emergency medical personnel.
Sen. Jacque tells SeehaferNews.com, “This legislation is about fairness. The heroes within our communities who have given of themselves and need healing because of their service deserve our support, and I hope to see AB 651 quickly move to the governor’s desk.”
Sen. Jacque also testified on the Senate version of the bill in front of the Senate Committee on Government Operations, Labor and Economic Development yesterday.
