Eastern Wisconsin’s representative in Congress has responded to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
In a public statement, Congressman Glenn Grothman referred to Maduro as a “dictator”, whose arrest was “a significant success in the fight against international drug trafficking and narco-terrorism.”
Rep. Grothman praised the men and women who made it happen, calling the operation “a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when the United States takes the threat of narco-terrorism seriously.”
The Glenbeulah native also pointed to the war on drugs, which claims countless lives every year, and praised President Donald Trump for being a “president who cares about the overdose crisis devastating families and communities across this country and is willing to confront the source of the problem.”
Rep. Grothman closed, saying, “It has been exhilarating to see the outpouring of support for President Trump’s leadership from Venezuelans around the world. Their response shows that standing up to corruption, tyranny, and drug trafficking matters – not only for the safety of Americans, but for freedom-loving people everywhere.”
