Two Rivers Public Schools is off to a good start in a big fundraising campaign.
The TR Proud Capital Campaign is raising funds to upgrade sporting facilities at Two Rivers High School, with some areas unchanged since the early 2000s.
Superintendent Diane Johnson said on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that some substantial donations have been made to the campaign so far.
“$100,000 from Vinton Construction,” she noted. “And just this morning receiving $20,000 from Schaus Mechanical. So, definitely getting started.”
Two Rivers High School Principal Tim Engh (ING) also reminded listeners about the First 50 wall, which will recognize donors who give $250- $1,000 to get the project started. Johnson says the project is important not just to them but to the community.
She explained that the community has always been welcomed to their schools.
“If the community can be out walking the track in the spring when it gets a little nicer or using the football field with their kids, that would be great,” she explained. “The more people involved, and the more people around our schools, the more you see what a great job our students and staff are doing.”
Residents can make donations online at trschools.k12.wi.us/tr-proud-project.
The entire project would include getting a brand-new turf field at Jerry Bonino Field, a new rubberized track, new bleachers, and new tennis courts.
In the future, TR schools are planning to redo the baseball/softball press box and dugouts.
