It was an EWC boys hoops clash as Valders welcomed in Roncalli last night.
In what was a bit of a one-sided contest, the visiting Jets dominated the Vikings en route to a 73-33 win.
It was all Roncalli from the opening tip as the Jets would jump out to an early 13-0 lead before heading into the halftime break leading 38 to 11.
Despite losing leading scorer Donovan Cowley late in the first half, the Jets had other players step up in his absence.
That included junior Maddix Gulseth, who knocked down three of his five triples in the game in the second period.
Valders would come out in the second half looking much-improved, however, the stout Roncalli defense was too much to handle, as Mason Staudinger, the Vikings’ leading scorer entering the game, averaging 25 per game, was held to just one lone basket.
Gulseth would lead the way for Roncalli, ending with a game-high 29 points, while Ryland Goehring and Gavin Mayer would each net 7 to lead the Vikings.
With the win, Roncalli improves to 7-2 on the year, 5-0 in the EWC. Valders now falls to 2-7 and 1-4 in conference.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday with the Jets hosting Brillion to decide first place in the EWC, while Valders matches up with Chilton.
