A company with a location in Manitowoc is closing its doors.
In a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, United Piston Ring plans a full closure and a workforce reduction.
The reduction will affect 60 employees, including 5 full-time salaried employees, 54 full-time hourly employees, and 1 part-time hourly employee.
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notification explains that the layoffs and closure are due to the restructuring of UPR’s manufacturing footprint and capacity.
The closure is expected to happen on March 6th and will continue through decommissioning until June 30th.
United Piston Ring explains that employees being let go will receive severance pay that extends beyond the plant closure and transition support services, including career fairs to help workers connect with other Manitowoc businesses.
